new blog...

I came up with a new definition for myself the other day. I really don't like labels, but they do come in helpful at times. My faith has been informed and shaped primarily by two movements.

The first being the Charismatic movement, which exposed me to the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. I still hold those highly, and believe that God desires to move in miraculous ways among his people - whether through prophecy, miracles, healings, etc... much more than we see happening currently in the church in North America.

The newest thing God is doing in me is a refining of authentic faith and what it means to be a person about and of his kingdom. I have a real resonance with the Emergent Church movement, if you want to call it that. I have been challenged and inspired by the new discussions that have been taking place about what it looks like for the kingdom of God to be manifested in our lives in our culture.

I haven't heard many people combine these two idealogies or theological standpoints, but they are both part of me, and I believe are launching points for where God is taking me. So, this blog is about my transformation into that which God is creating. I don't know how well I'll keep it updated, but I do want to use it as a place to pool my thoughts and as a sounding board for those who wish to chime in.
