Truthiness..

Bruce made a good point on my last post that Apple's marketing is using 'truthiness' to make Macs seem more appealing. In truth, if your computer runs XP, it should be ok to run Vista - though it may not be able to handle all the features. (Becaue I'm a tech junkie, I wouldn't be able to cope with being unable to run all the features of an operating system, so I'd probably have to upgrade if I was a Windows user). Regardless, Apple is skewing the truth a bit. But, Microsoft engages in the same tactics. I saw an interview with Bill Gates, where the interviewer brought up how similar Vista is to OS X, and Bill goes loopy. He starts making some pretty radical, and false, claims about people finding security breaches in OS X every day. Every tech expert I've read (even Windows advocates) who have reviewed this interview have been scratching their heads about that one. Everyone knows it isn't true - except maybe Bill. There is an organization that was trying to expose 30 Mac vulnerabilities in 30 days... and at the end of the 30 days, they mostly just found minor bugs, and no major security issues. Bill even goes so far as to dare people to find security problems once a month in a Windows machine. Wow. That's all I have to say.

I am not anti-Windows. In fact, I helped my sister and brother-in-law pick out a new Vista laptop yesterday. Anyhow, I've probably over-posted on technology for a while. My original plan for this blog was to discuss emerging church stuff - with some tech thrown in. It's been the opposite of that so far.
